Getting your baby or toddler to sit still is difficult at the best of times. Getting you child to sit in a Photo Booth and try to have a photo taken is almost impossible. Fear not, we are here to help. Most children will sit at home and let you photograph them and if you follow the simple steps below, then you should be able to send a photo that we can use to produce your Baby Passport Pictures
Passport Baby Photos - Sending a Photo
Many people prefer to take their own pictures to be used for Passport Photos. We can accept photos in two ways: -
1) Original photo by post - To the address shown on the left
2) File attachment by email - To mike@inkxs.com (including a contact number would be helpful)
Emailing them gives a better image.
Getting a good Baby Picture
To prevent the photo being rejected, please use the following steps: -
1) Set the camera to the best image quality that you can - The file will be bigger but better
2) Make sure that the image is saved as a JPEG or PDF
3) Use a plain, flat, cream or light grey background - as shown on the above example.
4) Make sure there are no shadows on the face or the background
5) Make sure that the face is straight facing the camera - No side shots
6) Make sure that the eyes are looking directly at the camera and are wide open
7) Make sure that no cloth is covering the face or any hair is covering the eyes
8) Make sure that the mouth is firmly shut - No teeth showing and no smiling
9) Make sure that there is sufficient gap above the top of the head to the top of the photo
10) Make sure that there is suffiecient gap between the bottom of the chin and the bottom ofthe photo
11) Make sure that there is sufficient gap on each side of the head
12) Remove your childs glasses if they wear them as it is very difficult to get an acceptable shot wearing them
13) If the child cannot sit up yet, lie them on the floor or in a bath chair with the card background behind them and take the picture from above. Try to use solid card as the background rather than cloth to get the best pictures
Baby Passport Pictures - Switch the flash off
With babies and toddlers being so small you have to get quite close to the child to get a good picture. The problem with most cameras is that they automatically use flash, which puts shadows behind the head and makes the skin look pale and shiny.
To prevent this, make the room as bright as you can with extra lamps or lights, but nothing shining directly at the face and also make the light balanced, so the same amount of extra lamps on each side of the child. Then switch the camera flash off.
The resulting pictures should be far better and are more likely to be accepted.
